NGN service-Abstract
NGNs will allow carries network to cost effectively support a new suit of sophisticated subscriber in US are said to account for about 95% of carried profits. Thus many service providers are looking to NGN service as a means to /abstract and/ or retain the most lucrative customers. Although it is different to predict what the next applications will be, we can infer the types of service characteristics and capabilities that will be important in the NGN environment by examining current service related industry trends. It is certainly true that we are moving from Time Division Multiplex (TDM) –based circuit switched networks to packet-cell and framebased network. NGN service, this view of service is rapidly changing as the world’s economies are becoming increasingly reliant on information as a basic resource.
· The primary goal will be to enable users to get the information content they want in any media/forma, over any facilities, anytime, anywhere and ni anyvolume. Based on the above mentioned trends the following is a summary of several service characteristics likely to be important in a NGN environment.
· Ubiquitous, real-time, multi- media communications
· More “personal intelligence” distributed throughout the network
· More “network intelligence” distributed throughout the network
· More simplicity for users
· Personal service customization and management
· Intelligent information management (etc…)
And NGN;s new service:
· Specialized Resource Service
· Processing and Storage Service
· Multimedia Service
· Virtual Private Networks (VPNs)
· Public Network Computing (PNC)
· Unified Messaging
· Information Brokering
· E-Commerce
· Call Center Service
· Interactive gaming
· Home Manager etc…
Many existing applications were developed in a “stovepipe” fashion, hard- coded for specific type of transport. For carriers wishing to support a limited set of applications over a limited number of transport mechanisms, this strategy is adequate.
Finally, from users perspective, today’s network have come a long way in fulfilling their purpose of enabling people and their machines to communicate at a distance. However a key critical success factor(among many) is focused telecommunication industry attenuation on can be realized in a NGN environment, fro m the edges to the core of the network.
